What made you interested into getting into your field?
Growing up with two brothers, I’ve always been into sports, fixing cars and, building things! I knew I wanted a hands-on job.
What do you love about your field?
I love being outside and learning new things about the job each day! The more I learn, the more I’m intrigued about my field!
What types of challenges have you faced as a woman and how have you overcome them?
Bathrooms! Sometimes finding somewhere to go to the bathroom working in construction utilities can be a challenge But, in all seriousness, it’s hard in the beginning to prove yourself and what your capable of. In my yard I am the only female so I have to really fight to do daily tasks when initially assigned to a new crew but once they get to know me and what I’m capable of, it makes things a lot smoother!
Is there any advice you would give to women entering the field?
Go for it! I hesitated at first and listened to other people around me and their opinions. If you think this is something you want to do, follow your heart and go for it! Working in trades is such a rewarding career in so many ways!

I hope to be an advocate for women out there either in the trades or wanting to be! We must be there for each other & support one another
